As reported in the East Rockaway Observer (2/12/98), "Five residents of the East Rockaway Union Free School District gathered in the conference room at East Rockaway High School on Thursday evening, January 22nd, to begin the formation of a new community organization, the East Rockaway Education Foundation." Those five individuals were Richard Meagher, Kenneth Pacheco, Vicki Alspector, Edward Sieban, and Gordon Fox. 

There were a number of other people actively involved in giving the foundation a good start. The director list included Vicki Alspector, Jane Brezenoff, William Burke, Herb Engler, Gordon Fox, Lynn Gerken, Joyce Ginocchio, Linda Howarth, Betty Johnston, Debbie Kienke, Robert Klose, Lisa Lonergan, Joseph Lores, Richard Meagher, Mary Meneses, Kenneth Pacheco, Edward Sieban, Marguerite and Robert Wilson, Annie Hecht, Jeff Tollin, and Elaine Rauch. 

As directors may come and go (and come back again!) the mission is still the same - mobilize resources, foster partnerships, provide financial support. 

We are proud to continue the tradition of supporting our schools, past, present and future, and promoting the camaraderie of East Rockaway School Spirit!
